“Life” in stone

The series “Life” in stone is about my interpretation of what is going on around me,  the situations I am experiencing and my own personal feelings and emotions. I have always wanted my work to be accessible and for it to elicit an immediate response from the viewer and to stir up their own feelings.

Recent Work

I chose to work with stone for it’s many qualities and what it has to offer, strength, stubbornness, resilience and fault, all of which I encounter every day.  I am continuing with this theme through  my open-ended series “Life”.

My work is very obvious at times, has a unique meaning and attempts to show emotion directly through lines, curves and the use of space, but still holding a form that we recognise.

The series “life” is hand carved into Maltese limestone, Alabaster and Soapstone using traditional methods and tools, the bases are made with oak and finished with boiled linseed oil.
